Tom Hohstadt suggested I contact you. I found your email address via a Google search that brought up the Tentmakers Conference. I think we're traveling in the same 'resonant cloud'. I'm reading your Matrix book. My blog is an exploration of ecclesial formation within a microprocessor-based world - the microclesia.
My wife and I are just back from a conference on the intersection of culture and xn faith. One of the presenters noted that the vast majority of deeply world changing xn's are doing it outside of the church - outside of professional "big box" xnty. Even more disturbing was his data showing that these key change agents overwhelmingly "do not respect" (in his words) the leadership ability of their pastors - finding far better support and inspiration from targeted, smaller circles of outside-the-box Jesus followers that speak deeply into their lives.

reminds me of something John Wimber once said: "I don't care how you structure your churches, as long as you do not impose those structures on your grandchildren."
I get the sense that we're entering into an ecclesial age where "we" no longer have much control over structure - where structure, global connectedness, communication, and ecclesia start morphing together into a profoundly new relational paradigm.
Maybe we're seeing an altogether new "structure" emerging out of found relationships, not the imposition of will.

Spiritual authority is healthy but it becomes spiritual-abuse in a closed system.
We say a lot of the right things but in practical terms we are beginning to run more like an independent baptist church. Would love to learn and be a part of a conversation more about how Church 2.0 is manifesting itself in real life.
